My Protein Protein Bars Review – Protein Chox Review

You’re not you when you’re hungry, grab a snicker, get some nuts! Ok for bodybuilders and athletes maybe we can’t go and grab a snickers bar. Well thank you My Protein for your newest range of protein bars – Protein Chox, the newest My Protein Protein Bars.

Protein Chox are a range of ‘luxury’ tasting protein bars from My Protein. What does this mean? Well it means they’re packed full of protein and don’t taste like ass. I don’t eat protein bars as much as I drink protein shakes. This is because a lot of protein bars have very poor nutritional values. 20 grams of protein is considered ‘average’ for a protein bar. Similar to 1 scoop of protein powder. Sounds good right? Well a closer look at many protein bars on the market reveal that they have double that amount of calories from sugary carbs and unhealthy fats. For a lot of people the mention of ‘protein’ in a food automatically makes them think its healthy. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Because of these poor nutritional values, im very selective about what protein bars i’ll actually eat. I’ve received countless samples that I won’t even try due to them being junk. I wouldn’t go and eat a candy bar or chocolate bar (no matter how tempting it may be), so why would I eat one of these garbage bars?

The problem arises with many protein bars as it appears as if companies prioritise taste or nutrition. Supplement companies will aim to create a bar that tastes like candy, whilst promising high protein content (but also being jam packed with crap). Others will focus on nutrition, making a bar that doesn’t taste good, and is almost impossible to eat without getting lockjaw. For me, this defeats the purpose of a eating a protein bar. If you want good nutrition, go and have chicken and rice.

Protein Chox My Protein Protein Bars seem to blend the 2 elements together in order to create a great tasting, and more importantly, nutritionally sound protein bar. Before I spend this my protein protein bars review talking about why these Protein Chox protein bars taste so great, lets take a look at the facts. The nutritional facts.

Myprotein Protein Bars ReviewPer Bar (60g):
Energy: 1013KJ
Energy: 242kcal
Fat: 8.0g
Of which saturates: 3.2.0g
Carbohydrate: 23.0g
Of which sugars: 13.0g
Fibre: 0.4g
Protein: 22.0g
Salt: 0.05g

This is more like it. A protein bar that offers an almost 1:1 protein to carbohydrate ratio, with only a small amount of fat. What I really like about these bars, from a nutritional value, is the flexibility they provide your diet. If you want to use these my protein protein bars as a meal replacement, you can simply eat 2 of them. The amount of protein and carbohydrates id have per meal fit nicely into my macro’s. Fat content isn’t too high, so im able to eat 2 without having to worry that im eating too much fat for the day. Alternatively, if im looking for a snack between meals, or just want something to tide me over till feeding time, I can just eat one of these bars. I’ll be getting 22g of protein, and a small serving of carbohydrates.

So what makes them taste so great? Well if you love snickers, meet your new best friend. The caramel peanut flavour Protein Chox Protein Bar.Don’t love snickers? Then try a different flavour. Protein Chox are available in 5 flavours:
Caramel Peanut
Cappuccino
Cookies & Cream
Lemon Crunch
Maple & Pecan

Of the 5 flavours I have tried Maple & Pecan, Cappuccino and Caramel Peanut. Without a doubt, caramel peanut is my favourite flavour from the My Protein Protein Chox range. This is closely followed by Maple & Pecan however. I simply love this taste protein bar. If you’re the type of person who craves pancakes & maple syrup, you’ll love this. Cappuccino was my least favourite. Not because it wasn’t tasty, but because im not a huge fan of coffee flavoured things. I personally wouldn’t buy the Cappuccino flavour again, however if i was given one or had an extra one lying around i wouldn’t hesitate to eat it. I’d just prefer to buy the caramel peanut or maple & pecan flavoured my protein protein chox bars.

I’ve yet to try the lemon crunch or cookies & cream flavours, however rest assured, i will be!

Each protein bar is coated in a thing layer of milk chocolate, enough to hold the contents together and give you the authenticity of eating a chocolate bar, however little enough for you to consider junk. For me this is the perfect amount. Unlike some very tough, protein bars, the Protiein Chox bars are so soft and easy to eat. Seriously if I had a blind taste test of a snickers bar and a caramel peanut protein chox my protein protein bar, i wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The Cappuccino flavoured protein chox bar was similar in texture to a milky way bar. Think of the fluffy centre being cappuccino flavoured, and you know exactly what you’re having.

These Protein Chox My Protein Protein Bars are available in boxes of 12 for just £19.99. Cheaper than the over priced crap you get in Tesco or Asda, with a better nutritional profile.

If you’re looking for a great tasting, healthy, protein bar, then you really can’t go wrong with the new Protein Chox range from myprotein. With 5 flavours to chose from, and working out at just £1.66 a bar (when purchased as a box of 12 for £19.99) you have no reason not to treat yourself.
