Whats up peeps, freaks and shreadheads. Adam here reporting on week 1 of my bodybuilding competition prep. I will be entering the Open Mr & Miss British Isle in Hartlepool, on October 27th, so we are 9 weeks out today. This post will cover the past week of competition preparation.
Before we get into that though, let me just explain how these blogs will work. Each Sunday ill put a post up about the previous week. Ill talk about my training, workouts, diet and general things through the week that relate somehow to my bodybuilding show preparation.
So here I was at the start – 10 weeks out
Kicking the week off was heavy legs and volume shoulders. Man was i feeling fubar after legs on this day. My leg workout started off with 5 sets of standing alternate hamstring curls. For working sets Im currently aiming for 10-12 reps for these, however I usually find myself hitting 10-15 reps. If the weight at 12 reps is easy, ill continue to 15, which is usually my failure point. However it may take me 2-3 sets to get a weight where 10-12 reps is my failure point. This differs week in and week out, and is really just a case of playing by feel. After this I performed lying hamstring curls, 5 sets of 10-12 reps this time, and then onto the soul crushers known as quads.
This is where shit got real.
After 4 sets of 10-12 reps on the hack squat, and the 4 sets of 8-12 reps on the leg press, i was done. Feeling physically sick is not unusual on a leg day, but this day I felt even worst than usual. I was light headed, queezy and just generally feeling like ass. To top that off i’d forgotten my maltodextrin – BASTARD. It would have been easy to sack shoulders off at this point, but i would never bring myself to skipping on my training. Shoulders was the usual, and I was thankful that I didn’t have to do cardio that day.
Training the rest of the week was pretty standard, i wont go into each day in detail, as these posts will become too long. I’ll look to focus on at least 1 day in each weekly update however.
Thanks for reading guys, see you all next week.
